Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead preclinical immunology assessments of our cell therapy products to select drug candidates for clinical testing
  • Manage and mentor a team of junior scientists in the execution of experiments to support cell therapy programs
  • Design, develop, and execute in vitro and ex vivo cell based immune assays, including engineering of primary T cells and assessment of antigen presenting cell functions
  • Make independent, intellectual, and technical contributions to Obsidian projects, while working on a collaborative team
  • Independently design experiments, meticulously execute bench work, troubleshoot assays, analyze data, and communicate findings
  • Present results at internal and external meetings

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • PhD in immunology, immuno-oncology, cancer biology or related field with postdoc experience and a preference for 2+ years of industry experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in in vitro/ex vivo immunology studies, including functional T cell and dendritic cell assay development using techniques such as primary cell isolation, multi-color flow cytometry, cytotoxicity assays, and cytokine quantitation
  • Expertise in antigen presenting cell biology and/or CD40L biology is preferred
  • Experience with lentiviral & retroviral transduction of primary human or murine cells would be a plus
  • Managerial experience preferred
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt in a fast paced, rapidly developing environment
  • Creativity and intellectual rigor with experience in driving research projects, including the design, execution, and analysis of experiments
  • High level of motivation and ability to work both independently and in collaborative teams
  • Flawless record keeping and multi-tasking abilities
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Authorized to work in the US at the time of application
